Council Funded Volunteer Programs
Volunteers play a vital and valuable role in the provision of services to the Town of Gawler.
Volunteers make valuable contributions to community services, improve the quality of life for those in need and strengthen community links as well as contributing significantly to the positive experiences of residents, businesses, visitors and students. Town of Gawler recognises and greatly appreciates the time and service given by our volunteers. In fact, many of Council's community programs are highly dependent upon the participation of caring and committed volunteers.
By volunteering with Town of Gawler you will be given the opportunity to share your passions, abilities and skills in meaningful ways that strengthen community capacity. Our volunteer programs create a sense of belonging, promote social inclusion, challenge inequity, encourage sustainable practices, and promote community wellbeing.
All volunteers receive:
- Induction and orientation
- Development and training opportunities
- Allowances and/or reimbursements for approved out of pocket expenses
- Insurance while volunteering
- Recognition for their hard work and dedication
Volunteering can be fun - meeting new people, helping others, learning and developing new skills.
If you would like to become a Volunteer – we’d like to hear from you.
Council Volunteer Programs
The Town of Gawler manages a wide range of volunteer programs:
Graffiti Removal Program - operates on Wednesday and Thursday each week, and is based at the Council Depot, Paxton Street, Willaston.
Gawler Visitor Information Centre - a centrally located venue supplying locals and visitors with key information about many of the different attractions and sites of the Gawler and Barossa areas.
Friends of the Clock Tower - is managed and run by volunteers who maintain, restore and wind the clock on a weekly basis.
Home Assist Program - helps to support frail, aged and disadvantaged members of the community through assistance with general home care tasks and social support.
Library Service - is supported by a team of volunteers, both directly and through the Friends of the Library team. Included in these programs are services such as home visits from the library, visiting elderly and restricted members of the Gawler community by delivering social support and library materials.
