Stormwater Management Plan
The Town of Gawler, Light Regional Council and The Barossa Council and NRM are working together to prepare a Stormwater Management Plan to identify ways of capturing and reusing stormwater.
The Plan will cover a catchment area that covers part of all three Councils and does not include the Gawler River floodplain.
Why have a Stormwater Management Plan?
The purpose of the Stormwater Management Plan is to identify and prioritise water projects that provide secure and affordable water supplies, improve the environment, and safeguard the community and property from floods. Specific projects might include:
- Water Sensitive Urban Design
- Gross Pollutant Traps (litter traps)
- Stormwater Flooding and mitigation
- Water Reuse / Retention / Detention
- Environmental flows
Preparing a Stormwater Management Plan will enable the Councils to seek State Government funding for new projects.
